The Next Four Months

LH is set to restart some time in early to middle September.

The gist of the last night's OOC meeting is that from the restart date to the end of the year LH will be in the grips of a throne war. What happened to Guillaume and the court you ask? Well the short of it is that he and Noah had their falling out and most (not all) of the court was collateral damage.

So throne war huh? Tell me more.

Well the idea is that each player will control a "faction" led by an Elder. Each faction is comprised of the Elder in charge, an Ancilla lieutenant and a neonate soldier.

In classic Jyhad fashion the Elders are warring for Praxis, either for themselves or for their minions.

The obvious Jyhad ends at the new year and to the victor goes the spoils. This includes the right to "keep" the elder beyond the new year either as Prince or as the Prince's owner.

Philosophy

Lets discuss kindred vengeance.

Anybody interested?

For example how small can a slight or injury be and still justify retaliation?

How much retribution is appropriate? Eye for an eye? Eye for an eye plus a finger on account of how you had to go to the trouble of evening the score? Two eyes? Is two eyes too much? Its much harder for somebody for come back at you when they're blind.

That raises another point; should you retaliate in such a way that they cannot decide injure you again? Sounds good don't it? Shit is, if you don't mind me saying so, that the only way you can be sure they can't come back at you is to make them dead. Which of course presents its own issues and moral dilemmas.

So how much is too much?

I have my own answers but I'll admit I'm curious to hear what answers you all have.

Archmage

It was a sunny day back in '95, I was hanging out at my friends house. His parents had just moved up from dial-up to broadband and we were downloading mp3's from Napster when he opened up Netscape and logged onto a text based MMO called Archmage.

It was awesome!

I immediately made my own character and n00b'd around until it was time to leave. When I got home I realized I didn't remember the URL. I asked my friend to email me the addy but he forgot and eventually I forgot.

7 yeas later I'm living in Marin and my roommate at the time asks me if I'd ever heard of it. I realize that yes I had heard of it and that I'd actually played it. He mentioned that the game had been picked up by die-hard fans and re-hosted. He allowed as to how he had just started a new mage and wondered if I might join him. I rushed to my computer and created a character and listened to my roommate explain how all the things I had done 7 years prior were wrong and we discussed strategies and joined a guild and made war and It was awesome!

After a couple of months we all got caught up in playing NWN and sort of forgot about AM.

Well a little while ago I went looking for it out of a sense of nostalgia.

Where's Court gonna be held?

Since most kindred we forced to leave early for various reasons, I would like to offer them a opportunity to enjoy the full hospitality of Clan Nosferatu.

That is unless they didn't like the decor...
